My Parisian Adresses #4 - Shakespeare's & Co

M° Saint Michel – Nôtre Dame

Our Parisian addresses were often tearooms so far, unsurprisingly: a tea of Christmas served with a part of hot Tatin pie and here we are conquered. Today, we change course and exchange our papillae for our eyes. Located in the center of Paris, on the banks of the Seine oposed to Notre-Dame, Shakespeare and Co is a bookshop of English language which since 1951 welcomes writers and English-speaking readers, contributing to the literary reputation of the Left bank.

This place welcomed Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Joyce but also Allen Ginsberg, Henry Miller, as well as Richard Wright. More than 30 000 young writers and artists stayed in the bookshop. The founder described this place as being a " socialist utopia being passed as a bookshop ".

We like:

  • Be able to come there to quench thirst.
  • Escape, make beautiful meetings.
  • Read English-speaking original version of book.
  • Either simply stroll between the orderly of book.

And because we do not recover, we recommand you to the passage to enjoy cookies the matcha tea!
